Clinical Supervision for Kentucky LPCAs

Thoughtful, relationship-centered supervision focused on clinical depth and professional growth

If you’re here, you’ve likely recently completed your graduate training and are beginning the transition into independent clinical work. Or, you may have been practicing for some time but find yourself wanting something more from supervision than learning formulaic interventions and having your hours signed.

You’re looking to understand the deeper meaning of session material, to examine your own emotional responses to your patients, and to connect these experiences to what’s unfolding in the room. This supervision may be especially relevant if you work with children, adolescents, and families and want to deepen your ability to think symbolically, relationally, and developmentally about your cases.

Whether you’re early in your career or somewhere further along, we may be a good fit if you’re open to a reflective, psychodynamically-informed supervision process.

My Approach

Beginning supervision with a new supervisor can feel intimidating, and it’s natural to feel some anxiety about having your work observed and evaluated. From our initial meeting onward, I aim to create a supervisory relationship grounded in mutual trust, collaboration, and openness. You’ll have space to discuss your goals for supervision, and together we’ll think about how to approach them in a way that supports your development.

I want supervision to be a space where you feel comfortable sharing your honest reactions to your patients. I view these reactions as valuable clinical information that can deepen our understanding of your patients’ internal worlds, relational patterns, and ways of navigating their environments.

Drawing on my background as a registered play therapist (RPT) and my training in psychodynamic theory, I often help supervisees attend to symbolic communication, metaphor, and the interpersonal dynamics that emerge in treatment. This may include noticing recurring roles you are drawn into in play (or other avenues of communication), reflecting on how these dynamics are experienced by both therapist and patient, and considering interventions that may help shift patterns that have become stuck.

Because supervision is not a one-size-fits-all process, our work together will be individualized to your clinical needs, strengths, and developmental goals. Ultimately, I hope to help supervisees strengthen their capacity for reflection, deepen their self-awareness, and increasingly experience their own therapeutic presence as a central instrument of treatment.

A meaningful part of this process involves developing greater tolerance for uncertainty. Rather than rushing toward immediate solutions, we will spend time wondering together about what is emerging in the work and what may be asking for deeper understanding.

Supervision Structure

Supervision is structured to provide consistent, ongoing support while remaining flexible to the needs of your clinical work and professional development. I meet with supervisees weekly for 60-minute individual supervision sessions. This structure is designed to meet the Kentucky Board of Licensed Professional Counselors’ requirement of one hour of supervision for every 30 hours of direct counseling experience.

Supervision may take place in person or via secure video conferencing, depending on clinical setting and logistical needs. My fee is $75 per session, due at the time of service.
